The Den

The DEN

The Den is a 'Drop-in Centre' for the young people of Bushmills. It has its own management committee and was set up by Bushmills Children & Young People's Services (BCYPS) which acts as a parent body. BCYPS has obtained funding from a variety of sources including, Northern Health and Social Services Board, North-Eastern Education and Library Board, Moyle Local Strategic Partnership, The Fair Share Fund and Awards for All to help set up the Den.

Initially the Den is open on Thursday evenings and organizes activities, like football, on other evenings. Over the Easter holidays an expedition to climb the nearby mountain, well high hill, of Knocklayde. As well as the climb to the summit the young people did a bit of bouldering along streams. We left with fourteen young people and three adult volunteers and returned with the same. Pictures of the expedition can be viewed by following the links.
