Habitat for Humanity in Northern Ireland
Every two years students from the Presbyterian Chaplaincy at Queens University Belfast build houses on the townships around Capetown, South Africa. This year one of our former pupils, Chris Gault, will be one of the students.
Before he could go to South Africa Chris, like all the other students, had to raise £1400 to cover expenses and travel. Chris, with the support of family and friends, has used various novel approaches to raise the necessary funds. He started off selling poetry books, written by Presbyterian Chaplain at Queens Steve Stockman, he held a sponsored car wash at his local church, St James's Presbyterian Church, Ballymoney. That was followed by a Christian 'Rock' concert for the younger members of the congregation, with other young people from the Queen's Chaplaincies he abseiled down the BT Tower in Belfast.
St James's PWA (Presbyterian Women's Association) held one day shops for him in the Cheers Drop-in Centre. With other students he ran a relay in the Belfast Marathon. Chris has also received generous sponsorship from members of his church and businesses and organisations in Ballymoney like R & F Mechanical Services and Ballymoney and District Round Table.
Chris would take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all his very generous supporters.
