ALPHABET ANGEL

Symbols and Meanings

'The Ulster Scots Sculpture 'Alphabet Angel' is a community generated project that draws its inspiration from the cultural authenticity of an everyday spoken tongue spoken within the village and surrounding townlands of Bushmills.'

The Alphabet Angel project involved many of the young people from the Dundarave Estate, a number of them were pupils at Bushmills Primary School and our post-primary next door neighbour Dunluce School.  As part of the unveiling celebrations pupils in all the local primary schools were invited to write a poem in Ulster Scots.  Joint winner of the competition was our own Gerald Kane with 'My Lovely Voice'.  Gerald recited the poem at the official unveiling of the statue.
