Ulster-Scot Art Project
Bushmills Ulster-Scots Heritage group were kind enough to commission artists to work with children in the local primary schools to produce pieces of art. We were lucky to have a former pupil, Frankie Creith, work with our P7 pupils to produce an outstanding piece of what would be best described as 'Mixed-media Textile'.
Working throughout May and June the piece of work, 'The Legend o' Finn McCool', retells the well known legend of the 'Giant's Causeway'; how Finn overcomes his fearsome Scottish rival 'Arbroath' and adds a slight twist to the building of the 'Causeway'.
The twist in the story comes courtesy of playwright Neil Speers who wrote a short play, 'The Legend of Finn McCool', which our P7 pupils world premiered in school on the 5th of June before performing at the Bushmills Ulster-Scots Heritage, 'The Getherin' on the 7th. This lively production introduced us to a group of other giants and some beautiful mermaids, all featured in the artwork.
The two pieces are proudly displayed in our reception area but you can see them by following the links below.
